Loretta's was serendipitously right around the corner from my Airbnb, and came highly recommended by multiple locals. I was really glad to be able to sneak it in for a quick mid-morning snack. We tried a variety of beignets for takeout and they were all delicious. My favorite was probably the crab beignet. The praline beignet was also delicious, but definitely super sweet. Service was quick and the shop is super cute. Highly recommend!

This location attracts a long line, but it was very worth it. I tried the original and the praline beignets, and the praline filled beignets were a bit too sweet for me. I preferred the original. They were hands down the best beignets I've ever had! Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. They're the best in New Orleans!

After much research online and speaking with others who have visited this wonderful city Loretta's Authentic Pralines was our first stop after touching down in NOLA. It's one thing to have an authentic beignet from New Orleans but another level with filling. The gal helping us out had that sweet southern hospitality we all know and love in the South. Shared the Praline beignets are their #1 flavor but very decadent so the three that we'd receive should be plenty. We were about to order chocolate filled ones too, glad we didn't that time. Lightly crispy after being freshly fried and the chew on the inside was so perfectly airy. Not dense or having a huge gap between the fried dough. The praline filling for sure is super sweet, my husband and I each ate one. We saved the third as leftovers. The filling is slightly thick like a fudge but creamy, you can taste the nut flavor, and it was nice to have actual nuts for texture too. By far our most favorite compared to its other competitors in the area! Must try when in NOLA!

YUM! I prefer these beignets than the one at Cafe du monde. They were crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. There's so many options to choose from sweet to savory. It's not a quick pick up sort of deal so make sure you're not in a rush. I waited about 20 minutes to get my order and there were people complaining that they waited 30-40 minutes for theirs. There are a few tables available right in front of the store.

I am glad we walked down to this place. My goodness it is delicious. It has a long line but is worth the wait. We tried both the original beignet and the praline filled. As well as some regular pralines. It was all so good! It was worth the weight!

Loretta knows what's good. My gallivanting in NOLA was packed full of beignet adventures, and needless to say I looked a little too eager to face plant in fried dough and powder sugar. Loretta was the last stop on my list but it was hella joyous. The review is purely on the beignets because we bought pralines and confectionaries elsewhere. Regardless, the beignets were unlike any others I had tried. These beignets, while still fried, were flaky and soft - I much preferred the texture of these. More importantly, we got the praline and so there was a delicious sugary center that went so well with the fried dough. Once we finished our order of 3 praline beignets, we knew we had to try the crab. Mind you, the crab beignet comes as 1 piece vs 3 pieces of the others, and it's more expensive! Service was curt, short, and to the point. Friendly enough though. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I think they may have overcharged us on the crab because I think it was close to $14 USD. Or that might be the regular cost? Crab beignet came with a sweet sauce but you almost didn't need it because the crab meat was mixed in with a creamy sauce and sooo delicious. Definitely a must-try. Don't mind the no frills appearance in the market. It definitely is worth stopping and inhaling some fried goodness to fuel up for the shopping to come.

I've never tried the pralines here, this review is all about the incredible, delectable Crab Beignets!! It's located in the French Market and that gives you many opportunities to eat and shop from local artisans, I love that so much!! They have many praline and beignet varieties, you place your order, pick it up and take it with you or take a seat at one of the tables at the market and eat, that's what I did. I love the French market because the owners are there to answer any questions, as well as give some history behind the items that they're selling. It's such a cool environment. I got 2 Crab Beignets and a Praline Cookie. The beignets are flaky, tender and savory with delicious , delicate lumps of crab stuffed inside. It also comes with a sauce on the side. The sauce was the perfect condiment, well balanced and seasoned not too spicy. The Praline Cookie was Very Sweet and good but really too sweet for me. The winner is the Crab Stuffed Beignets!!

I follow Food Network TV personality Kardea Brown and she raved about Loretta's. There are 2 locations, one is a stall in the French Market (convenient for French Quarter visitors), the other is a cafe in Faubourg Marigny. I actually had to pass the rightfully famous and wildly popular Cafe du Monde to reach Loretta's, which I thought would be closed based on the hours posted on their website, but I was pleasantly surprised they were open. Now I've had Cafe du Monde's famous beignets and they are indeed delicious. Where Loretta's changes the beignet game is that they offer different varieties, both sweet and savory. Plus they have other baked goods and sweet treats. I ordered what Kardea ordered: the crab beignet and praline beignets. The crab beignet is an order of one for $8.50, pricey but very tasty. The praline beignets ($7+ for 3) were also good but very sweet, and the weight of the filling made the beignet less airy and light. I wonder how many hundreds of pounds of powdered sugar all the beignet places in New Orleans go through in a day. They had other things I would have liked to have tried (crawfish beignet, peanut butter and jelly beignet, different cookies), but New Orleans is a food town and you have to pace yourself! Worth a visit.

The BEST beignets in New Orleans, hands down. They're perfectly balanced in flavor and sweetness; and they're cooked to perfection -- a perfect balance of fluffy and crispy. Compared to Cafe du Monde and Cafe Beignet, the sizes are kinda small, but every bite you take is perfect. We came first thing in the morning, so there was no line; but we could see a crowd forming by the time we left. Service was quick and prompt -- we got our beignets fresh and they got them out to us in 5-8 min. I like the location in the French Market, because you can walk around and shop afterwards too. Highly recommend!
